Watering Tips for the Vegetable Garden

After a long, cold, and wet winter Britain is baking in summer sunshine. Here on the Isle of Man we’re having one of the hottest and driest summers in memory. Fields that are usually lush and green are yellow and withered and let’s not even talk about the lawn. Our plants are thirsty!

I’ve been going to the allotment garden every day during this heat wave to make sure my plants stay watered. The best time to do it is the evening and the second best time is early morning. I take my Gardena hose trolley with just in case there’s a fight for the communal hoses! The sprayers at the allotment are always disappearing so I’m really happy to have the comfort sprayer too. It helps me to direct water to where it’s needed most.
